The Mass Rivals 9th grade team has made some serious noise this spring on the adidas Grassroots Basketball circuit. With the new addition of Elite Week alumnus Tomas Murphy, this freshmen squad looks to be one of the most talented teams in the region. While they play in the 9th grade division on the adidas circuit, the freshmen team (including Murphy and two additional 8th graders) has been playing in the 10th or 11th grade divisions in local tournaments.
This past weekend, Murphy and company went undefeated to take the 17U Mass Rivals Ruckus in Reading title. Fellow Elite Week alumni Eric D’Aguanno has been shooting the lights out of late, hitting an impressive 40% of his 3-point attempts, while Sherron Harris has provided valuable minutes off the bench with his athleticism and distributiveness on the defensive end. With a roster that includes the supremely talented wing Saul Phiri, high level point guard Makai Ashton-Langford, and a big time athlete in Greg Kuakumensah, look for this team to carry this momentum in the final 2 stops on the adidas Grassroots circuit, including the adidas Invitational Classic in Indianapolis, and the adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas.
